An entry shared in one of my other blogs but i am sure it will fit here too.
We are losing connection with ourselves and the world around us. It is always about life in the fast lane and days/ month/ years just seem to blur. Before we know it another year has gone, we wonder how it happened and also mourn because another year is lost in our life.
As the saying goes:
You can’t bring more years to life,
But you can bring more life to years.
You can start by seeing the value of reconnecting with the natural world and it’s cycles. Witnessing the wheel of the year and the cycles of the moon are ways of doing so, by simply acknowledging the different times or make it a bit more elaborate with ritual. This is time for YOU bringing life to your years and discovering and pampering your Goddess within. It is not about the destination, but an ongoing journey and work to feel at your best in body, mind and spirit. Don’t let the daily race take that away from you. Reconnect with yourself, reconnect with the cycles of the planet and by doing so you reconnect with your ancestors who also marked specific times and cycles in their life.
As an inspiration for the 1st of December, this is my newly decorated Winter altar.
I personally split my year into 4 segments:
December, January, February – Winter
March, April, May – Spring
June, July, August – Summer
September, October, November – Autumn
See if you can find a little space in your home to set something up. It does not have to be a full table … Maybe just one item that represents the season to you. Maybe add a candle and some incense IF you like. These are just ideas, but you need to find what works for you.
Find some time daily if you can even if it is just for a few minutes. Light the candle and incense (if using) to create that special time out for you. Maybe you want to say a few word out loud or just in your head to whatever YOU believe in. God, Goddess, Angels, Spirit, Universal energy … or simply just some time in silence if you don’t believe in any higher powers. There is nothing wrong with that. It is about you and what works for you and sometimes it takes a little trial and error.
